My aunt and I went on a quick trip to the Roseville Galleria and decided to have a lunch at Yard House. A good place to meet up friends for a drink, a quick get together with some coworkers, or just to stop by and relax after a long day’s work.

Yard House has two happy hours – which is great. They have more options than other places and if you go there just a little earlier than when the actual happy hour starts, you’ll beat the crowd. Trust me, it gets pretty busy. To view their full list of their happy hour, you can visit here.
Its a bit dim inside which helps keep the mood more relaxed, in my opinion. It may look small from the outside, but its pretty spacious. Yard House also has outside seating. Inside, it has this slight industrial feel to it due to the visible pipes.
We started off with the Poke Stack, which had marinated raw ahi, crispy wontons, avocado, and wasabi soy sauce. It was light, fresh and paired well with the wontons. I liked that the ahi wasn’t drowned in sauce.
Even though this wasn’t the main thing that I went to Yard House for, but it definitely hit the spot. Their street tacos are pretty good. Definitely something I recommend trying out if its your first time there.
Grilled Korean Beef Short Rib
Spicy green papaya, sriracha aïoli and chili threads.
Meat was tender, not spicy at all, more so sweet and tangy with just a slight kick. This one in particular didn’t wow me much. Pretty average.
Cabbage, cilantro, cumin crema, pico de gallo, guacamole, mango and papaya.
After taking a bite, I kid you not, I regret ordering the short rib taco. The fish was cooked perfectly and the toppings didn’t over power the fish at all – just the right amount to enhance its flavor.
Every time I visit, I always order this. Its so automatic, I question myself minutes later as to why I even ordered it. Once it hits the table though, I’m reminded, “Oh yeah, that’s why.”
Roasted Turkey Pot Pie
Carrots, leeks, celery and fresh herbs in a puff pastry.
Yes, I ordered pot pie.
Can you blame me though? Knowing that it comes in a size bigger than my hand, I just couldn’t resist.
The puff pasty covers the entire bowl. I rip it off the plate and eat it on its own as well as dipping it into the filling. Its so flaky, and has just a slight sweetness to it. The filling has big chunks of turkey, veggies and didn’t have too much sauce – nothing overpowers anything, it had a good balance. I like to eat my pot pie with some red pepper flakes. YUMMY.
We also ordered beer – I had the Widmer Hefeweizen while my aunt had the Auburn AleHouse Gold Country. We both preferred the Widmer over the Auburn. Yard House offers a beer sampler – in which you can try six small servings of different beers. To know more about the beers they offer, you can visit here.
